When we first visited this stunning coastal home in Catherine Hill Bay, it was in the middle stages of completion. Even at this stage it was obvious that the client was creating a very family orientated home, with large living spaces, that flowed throughout the whole design effectively. Essentially where you can have privacy and still be together.
With all this in mind the way we decided to approach this project was to create a warmth and keep it cohesive throughout. We used Mondo by Gummerson throughout, this is a linen look fabric and was the perfect choice for a few reasons.
Firstly the composition of Mondo was a key factor, being so close to the beach it was important to think of longevity, using a 100% Linen or mid to high composition would likely ensure that rapid decline in the natural linen fibre . Secondly, with family orientated space the fabric needs to be easy to care for, Mondo is just that. Finally, the quality in appearance and colour, even upon close inspection it is hard to believe that there is no linen in this fabric, it has been beautifully executed by Gummerson. The white is a go too for us when a client is after a pure white.
Another factor when you have a whole house that you need window furnishings for is often cost. Mondo is one of the most cost effective fabrics on the market that doesn’t compromise on quality and aesthetics. Coupled with rake ceilings and beautiful styling by our client the sheer and block out curtains worked perfectly in this home.
